I was really excited to get this for my grandsons. I saw this and loved the design, and knew I'd build up the bottom part to make it fort-like as well (no one wants to be stuck in the "not-fort" right?)Well, this arrived and it seemed packed well enough...but the boxes arrived on different days and I had no clue when the last would finally get here...a couple of days later, it finally did. I had reached out to the seller but the seller did not respond. The directions were terrible--but at least the pieces were clearly laid out, right? WRONG. The pieces were clearly laid out in the drawings, but MISlabeled in reality--causing us to have to disassemble the whole thing and start again when we were just about finished. Needless to say, this was not cool.Pieces of the bed were not painted (still had purple primer or ??) and the pieces that should have fit together did not. The roof was an absolute NIGHTMARE. They had obviously drilled the pilot holes in the wrong places, and there was wood fill all across each and every board. Then there are the spacers--they would have been great if they were accurately spaced. If I had followed those, the boards would have been crooked as heck and crossing over one another. So we had to remove the improperly-placed spacers (causing a few puncture wounds due to the staples) and we had to measure the whole thing out. Funny thing--when it was done--and we accurately spaced the planks so that they reached the end of the rafter--the rafters didn't fit and were too short for the bed length. So, I had to go buy trim pieces from Lowes to cover up the gaps (see end caps on the finished roof). I had to use wood fill to fill in the gaps of the pieces that were ill-fitting.The premade panels are warped. An engineer friend came over and commented on the lack of quality control and he pointed out how they were warped. There was no way the pieces were going to accurately fit together with these issues. (At least I didn't feel crazy or inept as I could not get them to fit--no matter what I tried.)The screw holes make it look polka-dot. They did not provide covers (even the cheapest of furniture manufacturers provide plastic pop-in covers to cover screw holes for goodness sakes! So, I had to match the paint on the rafters and paint over the screws, and since I had to repaint the whole bed due to the lack of paint on the pieces, went ahead and painted over the screw holes. All in all, I say--unless you are looking for a woodworking project instead of a kit-bed, go for it. If you have the wood fill, tools, and access to a Lowes, go for it. But wow. This was the WORST piece of furniture as-is and out of the box.In the end, after a lot of work bolstering the piece strength and sturdy-wise, and me doing the creative work on the lower half, it's a cute bed but I see flaws all over it in the places I could not fix.Amazon wouldn't load all of my photos...but the advertising photos were obviously Photoshopped because there are holes and screws in the planks but they don't show in the photos. The bed arrived quickly and was packaged well. Unfortunately there were a few pieces missing from the hardware kit (luckily my wife checked before we started). We contacted the seller and they were quick to send a new set. In fact they sent the whole hardware kit NOT just the pieces we were missing. We were able to assemble most of the bed without problem, and it is a pretty solid bed, but when we started separating the roof slats we discovered that they had been stacked together while the paint was still a little wet. That resulted in many of them being glued together and it caused mild to moderate damage to about 1/3 of the slats. Again we reached out and customer service took care of the problem. Initially they offered a $50 discount but I sent pictures and they agreed to send a new set. They sent a complete set of slats… and 2 new windows with some extra slats to support the mattress. It took longer than expected to get everything set up but my kids finally slept in the bed last night and they were excited about it. At the end of the day I wish the box had everything it was supposed to and the roof slats weren’t glued together… but I also believe a company that fixes the problems they have to be worthy of a mention. Overall I would give the product 4 stars… but the customer service 6 stars.Love the way it looks , I had read that instructions were bad and they were you gotta just use your own building skills lol. Takes two but three makes it easier. I love putting things together but the way these parts were made was pretty bad. I think the parts like the wall with the windows should already come assembled and the right and left wall and the roof the box was big enough to have done that. The holes on some of the roof top were not aligned as well. So if you don’t mind a challenge and some very fragile pieces then it was worth it at the end .It's a fun, great looking bed that my boys love. However, assembly is rough, you must have at least 2-3 people to get it done. We also ended up using our own screws for the top four corners because the screws they provided would not go in all the way without stripping before they were fully in. But in the end it's totally worth every penny, it's strong, fun, and my kids will love it for years to come!
