It loosens up pretty easily and it's a bit annoying since the trundle comes out easily. If anything gets under the trundle, you have to take it completely out to remove the object before it'll slide back in. Even then it can be hard to get it back under evenly. It doesn't seem sturdy enough for older kids. My boys are 9, 7 and 2If you care about aesthetics do not purchase. The bolts that connect the top and bottom bunk are not correctly advertised. I knew some would show but not the one that connects the top and bottom bunk. Also, it comes with this giant sticker that is almost impossible to remove.I was able to build the whole bunk bed by myself before my husband got home. Some part were heavy for me to lift by myself but I was able to improvise with a ladder. I am not a handy person per say, the instructions were very easy to read ( more like I just looked at the photos) that it didn't that long to put together. The allen wrench will be your best friend when assembling this product, which is supplied in the hardware. As you can see in the photos, my son was very happy to have his big boy bed. Not only was the bunk bed worth the price, the customer service is phenomenal. They listened all my concerns and questions. I had a major issue with fed ex delivering my 2nd half of the product, they were understanding and helpful through it all. Not to mention, the response time was very quick I may add. The only question I have is, what is the wood made of? My husband absolutely loves it!Received the package today. Only received box 1 of 2 so missing the rest of the bed. It took a long time to get this bed. If I ever get box 2 then I can update this review. It is also very complicated to reach anyone.Update: The 2nd box came in the next day. Other than how long it took to get the bed and the fact that the boxes arrived on different days its a great bed and my son loves it. It seems very sturdy.The bottom of the ladder broke when we were assembling it. The trundle broke within a month - and not the slats, the board the slats were screwed to. We have 3 girls who were all being as careful as little girls can be...Now the trundle is pulled out at all times. If making this purchase again I would 1) be more careful during assembly, and 2) not get the trundle. It will take a bit of doing to fix it, and I'm tempted to just throw it out and have my youngest sleep on a mattress on the floor that we can shove under the bed in the mornings if we want and not have to worry about stepping on for fear of breaking it.It took hours to put togetherIt had 100’s of piecesAll in all it looks cute in the room
